Eastmont Middle School, 10100 S. 1300 East, will have a room named in its honor at the Mountain West Ronald McDonald House, symbolizing a three-year commitment by students to raise funds for it.

During Christmas drives between 1987 and 1989, the school raised $10,000 for the 16-bed facility, located at 935 E. South Temple. The house provides a place for the families of seriously ill children who are undergoing treatment in area hospitals.Since it opened in November 1988, Ronald McDonald House has served more than 600 families. It is a nonprofit project owned and operated by Mountain West Friends of Hospitalized Children.
