Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Gail Mitchell, was called home to Our Father-in-Heaven December 25, 1991.
Gail was born March 7, 1919 in Ray, Arizona, the daughter of Parley Pratt and Emma Dean Hayes Wilkins. She had two sisters, three brothers, and one stepbrother. She married Bert E. Mitchell June 19, 1937 in Los Angeles; their marriage was solemnized January 26, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bert passed away May 15, 1975. Gail lived in Payson, Utah for some 38 years, where she served in many LDS Church capacities including Ward Relief Society President, Counselor in Stake Relief Society President, and as a loving and devoted Primary teacher for 35 years. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She served a mission in Lansing, Michigan, 1981-82. She has lived in Salt Lake City for the last five and a half years where she has also touched many lives.Gail and Bert had one son and three daughters, Robin Clawson, Salt Lake City; Richard
Edwin Mitchell (who died in infancy November 9, 1942), Christine Miller, Santaquin; and Deann Taylor (who died January 23, 1979). She is survived by her younger stepbrother, Richard T. Chown; her two eldest daughters; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 30, 12 noon, Stratford Ward, 2605 South 1500 East. Friends may call Sunday 7-8:30 p.m., at the Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive, and Monday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
