Directions: I-80 through Evanston, Wyo., to Fort Bridger turnoff. Take Wyoming highway 410 to Mountain View. Continue south about 20 miles, 15 or it on a good dirt road.
Description: This is one of the larger waters in the Uintas, about 288 surface acres. It is caught right in the middle of Utah's high mountains, with aspens and pines, and the lower Wyoming plains of access around shoreline, but best access on east side near the dam.
Fish: Rainbow, Kokanee, whitefish
Details: This is a rich lake where fish grow a little faster than in other Uinta lakes. Kokanee were planted in 1991 and are doing very well. Fish the inlets for rainbow. Good place to try a float tube. Also, try fishing around the dam.
What works: For rainbow use the traditional baits - salmon eggs, cheese, worms and power baits. Also try small spinners such as Dare Devles and Jakes' Spin-A-Lure, and jigs. For whitefish try wet flies, like nymph, fished deep. For Kokanee use silver or red lures.
Notes: This has been a very productive reservoir. Rainbow tend to be a little larger here than in many of the other Uinta lakes, some getting up to 1 to 1 1/2 pounds. Kokanee are growing here at about one-inch per month. This is also a nice area for camping. New campgrounds along the eastern shore. Nearby, for a little variety, are popular spots such as Bridger and Marsh lakes. Gilnet checks show good numbers of fish.
