A major expansion is coming to McDonald's Restaurant in Richfield following approval of plans by the city's Planning Commission.

The business, located in the Richfield Plaza in the south sector of the city, will be expanded to seat 105 people. Some 48 seats in the outdoor playground area will be enclosed so that the entire area will be indoors, according to Dale Gibson, owner. He said the existing playground will also be enlarged.Easier access for the handicapped is planned.

McDonald's was one of the first businesses to open at the shopping center when it was developed in 1981. Gibson also opened a McDonald's in Beaver a few months ago and is planning to expand that facility.
