Carolyn Marguerite Shurtleff Bonner passed away on June 16, 1993 in Salt Lake City.

She was born June 18, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wilford E. and Marion Burt Shurtleff.Upon graduation from East High School she attended the University of Utah where she was awarded her B.S. Degree. She then attended Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, where she completed her dietetic internship. For several years she was employed as a dietitian at LDS Hospital.

Married Edward Bonner December 23, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Edward Bonner; her son, Edward W. Bonner and his wife Nora, Bountiful; her daughter Marion Bonner, Salt Lake; her son, David J. Bonner and his wife Lori, Salt Lake; and grandchildren: Meredith, Megan, Jeffery, Heather, Natalie, and Hannah. Also survived by a sister, Annette S. Hatch of Salt Lake and a brother, Burt Shurtleff of Roseville, Calif

Carolyn was a devout and active member of the LDS Church. Served a full time mission to the Eastern States; was a Relief Society teacher and served as president of the Kenwood Ward Relief Society. She was also a member of the Wilford Relief Society Stake Board. For several years she was Captain of the Kenwood Camp -Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She was an accomplished and creative homemaker and produced detailed work in arts and crafts. Her skills were recognized by many.

Carolyn lived courageously with diabetes for over fifty years, never complaining about her physical trials. She lived life with enthusiasm and joy, always thanking her Heavenly Father for her many blessings.

In February of 1991 she was awarded a fifty year medal from the Joslin Diabetes Center of Boston, Massachusetts. In March of the same year she was presented a personalized sterling silver medal from Eli Lilly and Company.

Her immediate family expresses great appreciation to family members, neighbors, friends and to those in the medical profession for their kindness and help. Also, heartfelt appreciation is expressed to Carolyn's loving husband who patiently and tenderly cared for his sweetheart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19 at noon in the Kenwood Ward Chapel, 3080 South 1765 East. Family and friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 So Highland Drive on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and at the chapel from 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
