Clifton Mikesell was united with his eternal sweetheart on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at the age of 87.
He was born November 6, 1913 in Porterville, Utah, the son of Willard Bishop and Bertha Angeline Kilbourn Mikesell.
He was raised and educated in Porterville. He married Sarah Nona Porter on October 12, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the Morgan 5th Ward. He faithfully served as Bishop of the Porterville Ward from 1967 to 1972. He also served as First and Second Counselor in the Bishopric, Sunday School Superintendent, Ward Clerk and other various callings.
Clifton worked for the Utah Department of Transportation for 34 years. At the time of his retirement, he held the position of foreman. He loved horses and spent much of his spare time training them and shoeing them for others. He was a fun loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Sharon Toly, Kaysville; Rhea Smith (Lyle), Milton; Marilyn May (Richard), Nephi; Pamela Ramage (Kenneth), Las Vegas; Joyce Barton (Mike), Kaysville; Robert Mikesell (Wendy), Milton; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Willard A. Mikesell, Sandy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Nona, his son Kent, three grandchildren, one sister, Erma
Dickson and one brother, J.H. Mikesell.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, 2001 at 12 noon at the Morgan 5th Ward Chapel, 2700 South Morgan Valley Drive. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Morgan, Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services at the chapel from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
