- Louis Elwin Ward, 82, of Richfield, Utah, passed away September 24, 2001, in Richfield, Utah.
He was born May 1, 1919, in Oakley, Idaho, to Louis A. and Ella A. Elison Ward. He married Virginia W. Bingham, November 21, 1936, in Burley, ID. The marriage was solemnized November 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Louis was a devoted husband and father who sacrificed all that he had to ensure the welfare of his greatest loves; his wife and his children. He has been very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Branch President, Bishop (twice), counselor in Stake Presidency, and Patriarch since 1967. Through his example he left a strong legacy of devotion to the church and his savior, carried on by his family.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 65 years Virginia; ten children, Therald E. (Susan) Ward, Richland, WA; Richard Hal (Jean) Ward, Richfield, UT; Jerry B. (Nancy) Ward, Orem, UT; Annette (George) Leavitt, Madera, CA; Leonard E. (Penny) Ward, Preston, ID; Janice (Daniel) Park, So. Jordan, UT; Brent A. (Carrie) Ward, Columbus, WI; Michael K. Ward, Salt Lake City, UT; Mark A. (Donna) Ward, Edwards, CA; Debra (Jonathan) Austin, Dayton, NV; 51 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; brother, Leon Ward, Manteca, CA;
Preceded in death by parents; brother and sisters: Willis Ward, Ramona Tanner, and Elda Ward.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at 12 noon in the Richfield 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 985 S. 400 W. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be with military rites by the V.F.W.
