1918 ~ 2003

Eugene Devont Stowell, age 85, passed away March 11, 2003 in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born January 27, 1918 in Thatcher, Arizona to Eugene D. Stowell and Ada Helquist. He married Patricia R. Alderman June 27, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married 58 happy years.

He graduated from Rigby High School in Idaho. He went to Kansas City in 1935 to First National Television School, which started a lifelong career in radio & electronic communications. He worked for the FAA for 32 years in several locations. He was an avid Scout leader and helped many boys to get their merit badges, including his five sons who are Eagles. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held many positions of leadership and had a great love for his Savior. He served missions in Tonga, Hawaii, L.A. Temple Visitors Center, New York Family History, Temple Square, Member Locator, and Welfare Square; he served as an ordinance worker at the Bountiful Temple. He proudly served in the Army Signal Corps for 3 years in Europe in World War II and was on his way to the Pacific as the war ended. He loved to travel with his wife to see the world and especially see all of his families.

Survived by his loving wife; children: Jeana (Jim) Stanard, Kalispell, MT; Keith (Karen) Stowell, Bountiful; Janet Stowell (deceased); Valerie (Gary) Maddox, West Valley; Claudia (Mike) Greear, Prairie City, OR; David A. Stowell (deceased); Bradley (Leila) Stowell, West Valley; Darlene (John) Futch, Payson; Gregory (Elizabeth) Stowell, Milton, FL; Vicki (Glenn) Checketts, Manteca, CA; Blaine (Bonnie) Stowell, Emery; brothers, Kay Stowell, Bartley Stowell, Vee Stowell; sisters, Laurel Hartvigson and Kathleen Cordingly; 37 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard 45th Ward Chapel, 1950 South Orchard Drive, Bountiful. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment - Bountiful City Cemetery.
