Frank William Gay 1920 ~ 2007 Frank William Gay (Bill), age 86, passed away May 21, 2007 in Kingwood, Texas. He was born in Provo, Utah Sept. 11, 1920, the only child of Frank and Emma Gay. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Elizabeth, five children, 17 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held in Utah. Mr. Gay had a 59-year affiliation with the Howard Hughes organization beginning in 1947. At the time of his departure from the Hughes corporate world in 1978, he was President, CEO, and Member of the Board and Executive Committee of Summa Corporation. Mr. Gay also served in various capacities including that of trustee at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute until his retirement in 2006. In addition to his responsibilities in the Hughes organizations, Mr. Gay has given time and concern to many other not-for-profit entities including service as Secretary-Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors of the Polynesian Cultural Center, an entity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; as Member of the Board of Directors of the Associates of the Harvard Graduate School of Business; as Member of the National Advisory Council of the University of Utah and Brigham Young University; and within the Boy Scouts of America as Council President, Regional President, and National Treasurer. He also served as a member of the General Board of the Sunday School of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Among Mr. Gay's recognitions and awards are: Doctor of Business Administration (hon.), Western Illinois University; Doctor of Business (hon.), University of Utah; Doctor of Humanities (hon.), Brigham Young University Hawaii, Brigham Young University Distinguished Service Award; and the Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, and Silver Buffalo, Boy Scouts of America. Bill's life was one of service to his family, church, community, and to all with whom he came in contact.
