Joe Dispenza 1919 ~ 2007 Joe Dispenza, age 88, loved and respected father, grandfather, and brother, passed away July 12, 2007. He was born May 21, 1919 in Trinidad, Colorado to Sam and Anna Compagno Dispenza. Joe was raised in Aguilar, Colorado and then moved to Bingham Canyon in 1941. On Sept. 2, 1942, Joe married Diana Lipsey in Bingham Canyon, Utah. Diana preceded him in death July 15, 2004. Joe enjoyed a full and rewarding life. He served as mayor of Bingham Canyon for eight years and had the distinction of being the last living mayor of Bingham Canyon. He served as a member of the volunteer fire department in Bingham Canyon. For many years he served as President of Local 485 of the Steelworkers. Community service included Eagles Club, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus. He was proud of his service at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen for 18 years. He also served as a volunteer at Juan Diego High School lunchroom for six years. Joe was an active member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in West Jordan. Survivors include his daughter, Paulette Antonio, Sandy; grandchildren, Kevin (Aida) Green, Elizabeth (David) Blair, Patricia (Paul) Peters, all California; Philipe Antonio II, New York; Eric Antonio, Sandy; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Bettie Lipsey; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Diana; parents; two brothers, John and Sam; sister, Tina. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wed. July 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 So. Redwood Road. Holy Rosary will be recited Tues. July 17, 2007 at 8 p.m. at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. and again on Wed. from 8 -9:30 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Juan Diego High School.
