Dixie State senior linebacker Robert Metz was selected to play in Dream Bowl III, which is a senior all-star game for primarily NCAA Division II and III student-athletes, in addition to several Division I FCS players. The game takes place Monday, Jan. 19, 2016, at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Metz (6-foot-4, 235; Tucson, Arizona/Canyon De Oro HS) is a two-time all-Great West Athletic Conference honorable mention selection who finished the 2015 season second on the team with 64 total tackles and one sack. He set the Dixie State single-game record with 19 tackles in the final collegiate game at Central Washington on Nov. 14. Metz also posted the eighth-best single season mark for tackles with 91 in 2014, and he completed his four-year career at DSU ranked second all-time in total tackles with 217.
Scouts from several NFL and CFL teams will be in attendance during the five-day bowl weekend, which will include a combine and several practices. For more information on Dream Bowl III, please visit the Dream Bowl website.
