Snoop Dogg recently opened up about the death of Kobe Bryant and the controversy with Gayle King while speaking on “Red Table Talk” with Jada Pinkett Smith, NBC News reports.
What’s going on?
- Snoop Dogg told Smith that he created his explicit video where he slammed King over an interview she held about Kobe Bryant’s sexual assault allegations was created to “protect” the late Los Angeles Lakers legend.
- Dogg said: “I wanted to make sure that the message was across that, ‘We love Kobe,’ and, ‘Be respectful of Vanessa and those kids.’”
- Dogg said: “That’s what the whole intent was: ‘Protect that woman and them babies over there because she’s still grieving. Let’s give them that respect.”
What happened with King?
- King interviewed WNBA legend Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant. She brought up the 2003 sexual allegations against Kobe Bryant, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Critics slammed King for bringing up the charges. Snoop Dogg was one of the biggest names to criticize her for it.
- Oprah Winfrey — a friend of King — said King was not doing well because of the media attention about her comments, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
