After several weeks of reruns, a new season of “Jeopardy!” has arrived.
What to expect from the ‘Jeopardy!’ Season 43 premiere
The Season 43 premiere, airing Monday, will see the return of Matthew Riggle, a community college math instructor from Alabama.
Riggle won the last two games of Season 42, with his Game 1 victory coming after he was down by more than $16,000, the Deseret News reported. He ended up winning his first game with a large total of $48,001, per “Jeopardy!” archives.
After two games, he has already accrued $64,000.
Thanks to a major change last season, “Jeopardy!” episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu and Peacock.
The previous “Jeopardy!” season featured several standout players and a few super-champions — including 31-game champ Jamie Ding, who now holds the No. 5 all-time spot for both most consecutive games won and highest winnings in regular season play.
Other impressive runs throughout the season included 14-game champ Harrison Whitaker; 12-game winning streaks from Adam Remsen and Caleb Groen — who had two games with a total of $60,000 or higher; 10-game winner Tristan Williams and eight-game champ Chris D’Angelo.
Ken Jennings continues to host ‘Jeopardy!’
Ken Jennings, who was named as the sole host of “Jeopardy!” in 2023, continues his role in Season 43.
Despite his unparalleled run on the show — a staggering 74-game winning streak back in 2004 — Jennings previously told the Deseret News he was surprised to land his “dream job” of hosting the long-running quiz show.
“I was 100% confident I would not get a shot at the job — because that would be insane,” he said. “If I were hiring for that job, I would go with a sturdy broadcaster with decades of experience, not just somebody who happened to be good at the show many years ago. But luckily they took a chance on me.”
