“The Voice” is back for Season 30 — and changing things up.
Here’s what to expect from the new season, which premieres Monday night.
Who are the coaches on ‘The Voice’ Season 30?
The coaching lineup for the new season sees the return of two familiar faces: Original “Voice” coach and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, and Kelly Clarkson, the inaugural “American Idol” winner who recently ended her seven-year run as host of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Country artist Riley Green and actress/singer Queen Latifah will make their “Voice” coaching debuts this season.
Changes on ‘The Voice’ Season 30
“The Voice” is introducing several changes to the format this season.
When multiple coaches are fighting over a singer during the blind auditions, a new button will give the coach who turned their chair around first the chance to claim the artist for their team before the artist makes a final decision. The “First In Button” can only be used once by each coach, per NBC.com.
There will also be a big elimination round this season. During “Cut Week,” each coach will send two artists from their team to the live shows. The five remaining artists on each team will battle it out to claim the third spot to complete the top 12, TV Insider reported.
In another major twist — especially coming from the most recent season of “The Voice” that was all prerecorded — there will be six weeks of live shows. The live episodes will be simulcast on NBC and Peacock, and will offer viewers new ways to weigh in on their favorite singers, including through the show’s official TikTok page and through texting, per NBC.com.
Voting results will be announced the same night.
The live shows will also feature some themed episodes, including a tribute to the late country music star Dolly Parton.
As usual, the season winner will earn $100,000 and a recording contract, but Season 30 is offering an additional bonus: a performance at the 2027 Governors Ball, a music festival in New York City.
How to watch the new season of ‘The Voice’
“The Voice” will have a three-night premiere for Season 30.
The season premieres Monday night at 7 p.m. MDT. The second and third part of the blind audition round will air Tuesday and Wednesday night.
After this week, the show will continue with new episodes Monday nights.
Episodes are available for streaming the following day on Peacock.
Who was the most recent winner on ‘The Voice’?
Levine took home the Season 29 win with Alexia Jayy, a singer from Mobile, Alabama, who then-coach John Legend compared to Gladys Knight, per the Deseret News.
During the Season 29 finale, Jayy performed an emotional rendition of Adele’s “One and Only” that had Legend in tears.
Levine had to take a long pause before he could speak.
“You are important, man. You make people reflect on their own life. When you tap into that, you make the world feel a little bit more together and communal. That’s really, really special,” he told Jayy, per Deseret News. “I’ve never experienced the feeling that we all just had together. Thank you for being a messenger, man. You’re unbelievable.”
Jayy’s win marked Levine’s fourth overall victory as a coach — and his first in over a decade.
