Bachmeier found Kasper for a 12-yard touchdown, the Oregon transfer’s second of the day, to give the Cougars a desperately-needed insurance score. BYU 28, Arizona 17.

Kasper’s touchdown was immediately preceded by a 61-yard reception by Legend Glasker, giving BYU its most explosive play of the afternoon.

9:37 — BYU just put together its best drive of the day.

The Cougars came out of halftime and traveled 75 yards on nine plays into the end zone, as Bachmeier found Kyler Kasper for a 6-yard touchdown. BYU 21, Arizona 17.

For Kasper, it’s the Oregon transfer’s first career collegiate touchdown.

LJ Martin, who had just five total touches in the first half, logged three carries and a 23-yard reception to power the drive. Bachmeier also converted a key third down with a 15-yard keeper.

2:03 — It’s officially a dogfight.

Arizona regained the lead on a 16-yard touchdown connection between Noah Fifita and Shane King. Arizona 17, BYU 14.

Aside from his early interception, Fifita has been excellent this afternoon, completing 16 of 20 passes for 141 yards while running for 48 yards and a touchdown as well.

12:46 — Reggie Frischknecht picked a good time for his first career touchdown.

BYU’s sophomore receiver ended up wide open for a 25-yard score on a pass from Bachmier, giving the Cougars their first lead of the day. BYU 14, Arizona 10.

With two catches now this season, Frischknecht has already doubled his entire total from 2025.

Additionally, Bachmeier now has nine games with both a rushing and passing touchdown since the start of 2025, tying for the most such outings in the country during that span.

First quarter

0:24 — Arizona ends a 12-play drive by making a 37-yard field goal. Arizona 10, BYU 7.

5:16 — BYU ties it up.

Bear Bachmeier made the most of Uluave’s interception by blasting forward for a 6-yard touchdown run, knotting the score at seven points apiece. BYU 7, Arizona 7.

Bachmeier now has 13 rushing touchdowns in 16 games at BYU.

5:58 — Cade Uluave, welcome to BYU.

The veteran linebacker from Cal now has his first true highlight as a Cougar, snagging a third down interception of Noah Fifita and returning the ball to the Wildcats’ 10-yard line. Arizona 7, BYU 0.

9:10 — Arizona strikes first.

The Wildcats marched down the field following the opening kickoff for a 75-yard touchdown drive, culminating with Noah Fifita diving into the end zone on an 11-yard scramble. Arizona 7, BYU 0.

Fifita carved up the Cougars right away, completing 6 of 7 passes for 52 yards before his touchdown run.

Arizona averaged 6.7 yards per play and notched six first downs on its opening drive, giving Kelly Poppinga’s BYU defense its first frustration of the young season.
